Week 1
Week 1 Highlights
It was a real pleasure to welcome new learners to the language centres at the start of this term. We had a busy and successful week of learning Welsh, with learners beginning to get to know each other and build new friendships.
During the language sessions, learners were introduced to the Welsh alphabet and took part in a variety of fun activities to help them recognise and remember letters and language patterns. They also had the opportunity to learn greetings and take part in language games to practise answering simple questions about themselves.
Learners developed vocabulary related to food, including breakfast and lunch, and learned how to ask “Can I…?” in Welsh. In expressive arts sessions, they learned the names of colours in Welsh and enjoyed creative activities using and mixing colours.
Towards the end of the week, learners had the opportunity to learn more about Wales and our identity as Welsh people. They listened to Welsh music and experienced aspects of Welsh culture in a fun and engaging way.
Here is a glimpse of some of the week’s activities.
