Week 3

This Week’s Highlights

This week was full of fun learning and creative activities, with enjoyment continuing throughout Week 3. The children learned to name body parts through songs and outdoor chalk activities. Moving to the rhythms helped them develop vocabulary in an engaging and interactive way, enjoying   learning at the same time.

The children also had the opportunity to learn clothing vocabulary and use language patterns in interesting contexts. During the  “Shopping Bag” activity, they followed instructions to dress characters. In addition, each child designed outfits for their own characters – a great way to encourage creativity while developing an understanding of following step-by-step instructions.

The children were introduced to the imaginary town of Aberwla, where they practised their language skills by learning about two characters, Aron and Beca. They were encouraged to describe the characters’ personalities and features, further developing descriptive language.

During the numeracy sessions, the children played a number games to practise counting skills in a fun, interactive way, revisiting basic number terminology in Welsh.

Descriptive language skills were further reinforced when the children recorded their oral work on an app, giving each child a voice as a different character. This provided a valuable opportunity to practise communication skills and build confidence in speaking within a fun, imaginative context.

At the Primary/Secondary Transition Centres, one of the week’s highlights was using virtual reality (VR) technology to take a virtual tour of Fferm Tyddyn Swnllyd, adding an exciting element to the learning experience.

The week was full of fun, learning, and creativity, with consistent opportunities for the children to develop and apply their language skills further.
