Week 1
Highlights of the week
It was very nice to welcome our new group to the Immersion Centre this week. Everyone is starting to feel at home, got to know each other and made new friends. This week the children have learned several things in Welsh and have started their journey of learning Welsh.
This week was full of fun and learning. We started by getting to know each other better by playing a “Who’s who?” game together. The children have been learning how to answer questions about themselves. The children enjoyed learning the alphabet in a fun way, using sounds and movements to help them remember.
We went on a scavenger hunt around the classroom and the yard to find different classroom tools to practice the vocabulary and Welsh questions. In our creative sessions, the children learned the names of the colours and the children created a beautiful colour wheel by mixing colours.
To celebrate Wales and being Welsh, we tried to recognize Welsh celebrities, listen to Welsh music to celebrate the language and enjoy tasting traditional Welsh foods such as Welsh cakes and bara brith.
The week ended with fun games to practice all the new skills we learned over the week – a busy, creative and fun week!
Here's a glimpse of what we've been up to this week.
